Winter Park Series Begins

The Winter Park MTB Series begins tomorrow with the hill climb from the base to the top of Mary Jane. This year we will be competing in the team competition with an A team and a B team.  Each team is very strong, so we’ll see how we do for the series. Look for us in our new kits.

Jon Takes First at Big Bear!!

May 30, 2009- Jon won the CAT2 30-39 race at the Big Bear Shoot Out, in Big Bear, CA.  Jon’s carrying some big momentum into the early season.  Things should only get better for him since he’s on a roll.

Way to represent Jon!

On the podium at Angle Fire, MSC #3

Jon Davis took 2nd place in Cat 2 30-39 XC Race and Aaron Uhl took 2nd place in Open Men 30+Super-D. Aaron had the hole shot but unfortunately lost first place in the last few seconds to the World Cup Downhill legend, Greg Herbold.

Brian Gets to Stand on Wood!!

Its a great accomplishment to podium at any race in Colorado.  We have the toughest group of racers in the U.S.  They say if you can win or podium in Colorado you could pretty much whoop up on anyone at any other venue in the U.S.

On May 16, 2009 Brian Mazanti took 2nd place at Battle of the Bear, in Lakewood, CO.  This is Brians first CAT2 19-29 race, and only his second race in his racing carreer.  Way to go Brian!

Brandon at the Growler

gunnison growler 2009

When this picture was taken I had just completed 32 miles of the 64 mile 2009 Gunnison Growler.  The weather started out alright but then the rain came down making an already tacky course a sloppy mess in spots.  Mountain Bike Legend (and Trek Rider) Travis Brown was out on course for the second lap setting what would be a course record despite the conditions.  Before I started my second lap Dave Wiens 6 Time Leadville 100 Winner and Race Organizer asked me if I was headed out again.  You definitely don’t say no to a guy like that!  I said I’ve got to and off I went!  Dealing with chain suck and threats of rain yet again.  To top it all off during the untimed but required finishing ride back into downtown Gunnison hail started to pelt all of us remaining riders on course!  Just a final Growl from Hartman Rocks letting us know it’s presence as it did all day!  The Gunnison Growler is a phenomenal endurace race and I’ll definitely be back for the 3rd time in 2010 no matter the conditions, because that’s why we love mountain biking!
